Generally, Dikir Brunei (Kitab Syaraf Al-Anam) encompasses verses from the Qur'an, praises of Allah, narratives regarding the birth of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu 'Alaihi Wasallam, as well as selawat and doa.

The recital of Kitab Syarafil Anam, inclusive of its doa, is routinely observed across various Islamic and traditional celebrations where Muslims express joy. These occasions include the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu 'Alaihi Wasallam, wedding ceremonies, aqiqah, among others.
